Hi folks,
Jesus recruited his first four disciples early in his ministry (Luke 5:1-11). He recruited
locals and started training them to be leaders. They needed to know: that God had
come to save, that they were sinners, to expect to be changed by Jesus, to be ready
to learn to help others meet and follow Jesus.
They were not perfect, and Simon Peter had his ‘moments’. Others also had to lead
(where would we be without Paul?). But most of them kept going with all of it for the
rest of their lives and became the people Jesus called them to be.
We are all welcome to follow Jesus and find wholeness in God. We also need to
know that God is real and Jesus is our saviour. That, as sinners, we really do need
forgiving. That as we change through life, we should be changing according to
Jesus’ plan for us. That our goal is to help others to meet Jesus.
Christians are disciples, following Jesus together,
